One particular event during the month of November 2025 will certainly be remembered throughout the history of our club, but more on that later..

After our AGM the previous month, we kicked off November in good style by having a trip to Oulton Park to get some shots of the Neil Howard Stage Rally. It's always a good day at Oulton Park (if you can avoid the rain) and those that went came away with a great selection of pictures..

For the nature photographers, we had a couple of trips out.. one to St Aiden's, which is such a fantastic place to visit and always delivers something interesting to photograph, to the much more local Reddish Vale, which much like Daisy Nook, normally has plenty of wildlife to try and capture with your camera. Both of these locations were well worth the visit and I'm sure we will be going again to one, if not both places in the weeks and months ahead.

Last and most certainly not least, we come to Saturday the 15th of November 2025. A date that will be enshrined in the clubs history.

It was a gathering of all the top photography clubs within the L&CPU, for several competitions in one day, being held at St Mary's Church Centre in Chorley.

Two of the comps didn't apply or involve us, as they were dealing with prints. However, in the afternoon the Knockout Trophy Competition was held, which was digital images and therefor very much involved us.

Each club entered up to eight images and they were then scored in a random order without the judge knowing the names of the club or the photographer. There was a total of 267 images, and of a very high standard as you would expect.

At the end of the scoring, the winners list is announced in reverse order, starting with the club with the least points. After a very long nervous wait, we learned shockingly, that our club was in a tie for the lead with Southport Camera Club. It then went to a tie break, which I am pleased to say we won.. and the rest of course is history, as they say.

An achievement of such magnitude from Daisy Nook Photographic Society, a club that is only two years old, it is still hard to take in several weeks later. Its a moment for every single member of the club to be extremely proud of, and a very special memory that will never fade.

A majority of people in that room didn’t even know who Daisy Nook Photographic Society were.. they do now.
